A Five Step Cleansing Routine Before Bed

14/10/2020 · collaborative post · 0

Sometimes, when you have had a busy day and you are shattered, the last thing you feel like is doing your skincare routine before bed. Yet getting into the habit of sorting your face before you go to sleep is something you skin will thank for you for in both the short and long term. It can feel tempting to give it a miss on days where you have worn no make-up, but it is still important to get rid of any impurities, dirt and grime that you may have picked up during the day. Similarly, no matter if you have worn a lot of makeup, or something mineral-based such as Colorscience, you will want to refresh your skin for the next day.  Here is a simple five-step cleansing routine that you should follow before bed.

Step One : Use a Hydrating Cleanser

A cleanser is the best way to start your nightly cleansing routine. There are many on the market, from creams to micellar water cleansers, and it is down to you to try the different ones and see which works best with your skin. Choose something that is gentle and hydrating to really get rid of the dirt on your skin without being too harsh.

Step Two : Use a Toner

A toner is the next step in your routine and is ideal for removing any dirt or impurities that might be remaining on your skin from your cleanse. Ensure you have a hydrating toner and don’t be afraid to use a good amount. Pat into your pores to help maximise the absorption into your pores for skin that feels fresh, hydrated and soft straight away.

Step 3 : Use a Treatment

The treatment you use on your skin is completely down to your skin type and can be changed depending on the time of year and how your skin is feeling. This is where you use serums or essences that can target everything from fine lines and wrinkles to dull and dry looking skin.

Step 4 : Eye Cream

Before moisturising, don’t forget to use cream specifically created to target the area around your eyes. This is an extra sensitive part of your face and you, therefore, don’t want to use the same moisturiser as the rest of your face. You can get eye creams to target a host of different areas such as bags, wrinkles and dark circles.

Step 5 : Moisturise

Moisturising your face at the end of the day is vital as it renews your skin for the next day and locks in all the fabulous products you have just applied. Adding a moisturiser to your skin means you will wake up with softer, brighter and more hydrated skin the next day that allows your make-up to go on easier and your skin to glow.

If you follow this simple five-step cleansing routine before bed, you are likely to notice a difference in no time. Be sure to try out different products and find out the ones that work with you. If you notice your skin breaking out or reacting to something, change it for something new.
