I think one of the things a lot of people have found hard during lockdown is keeping up with routines, be it having your hair regularly coloured, a fresh manicure once a fortnight or just going for your routine teeth cleaning, we have all had to find a more ‘diy’ approach to some the things we usually have done professionally.
For lots of us not having that regular teeth cleaning or whitening treatment at the dentist has been especially difficult, teeth hygiene is important for your overall health but it’s also one of the first things people notice when meeting someone and who doesn’t want a healthy white smile?
During lockdown I have been especially conscious of keeping my teeth strong and healthy, having any sort of tooth issue when dentist visits haven’t been an option would have been my worst nightmare!
The Colgate Total Deep Clean toothpaste* is an antibacterial formula designed to fight plaque and tartar. A build up of plaque can cause a whole host of tooth and gum problems so it’s important to use a toothpaste that helps target that as part of your daily routine. I’ve found that this toothpaste leaves my teeth feeling like I have had a professional teeth cleaning (although obviously no toothpaste will make up for a visit to the dentist – sadly!) it’s full of polishing micro-particles and foams up nicely with a minty taste that isn’t overpowering, I personally find some minty toothpastes can be a bit strong but this left my mouth fresh and clean all day. I sometimes suffer with mouth ulcers (I have a wisdom tooth coming through which is….not fun!) and having an antibacterial formula that cleans deeply but feels gentle is perfect for me!
I have been using this as my evening toothpaste as I think after a day of eating and drinking an antibacterial formula like this is perfect for making sure my mouth is clean and healthy before bed, I think it’s slotted in perfectly and I have already purchased a back up for when this one runs out!
How I keep my mouth healthy
I brush my teeth with a soft-medium bristle toothbrush twice a day to ensure I am removing food and drink particles and preventing a build up of plaque.
I really recommend making sure you clean your mouth as well as your teeth, this sounds a bit weird but I am always shocked at how many people don’t clean their tongue! The Colgate Total Deep Clean fights bacteria on your tongue, cheeks and gums for up to 12 hours when used for 4 weeks and it’s a step I never miss.
I floss twice a day to keep my gums healthy but I would say go with what works for you, I know some people find flossing irritates their gums but if your gums are bleeding when flossing then you should definitely have them checked when possible and/or use a medicated mouthwash, I really rate the Colgate peroxyl mouthwash.
I use 2 different toothpastes (one in the morning and one in the evening) because I personally find whitening toothpastes can make your teeth a bit sensitive when used twice a day. I like to use a whitening formula in the morning and then a targeted deep cleaning toothpaste in the evening to keep my teeth healthy and white.
So those are my tips for keeping your teeth nice and healthy, I’d love to know if you have tried this toothpaste or if you have any tips for a health mouth and smile!
