New Look: Kelly Brook Black Mascara £2.99
I have to start this post with a bit of a moan, what’s up with the Kelly Brook makeup ‘displays’ in New Look? I had heard amazing things about the range and wanted to try out a few different items so I popped into the Westwood Cross branch (Thanet, Kent) and couldn’t find the makeup anywhere. When I was queuing to pay I finally spotted it, a small row of products on the bottom shelf of the queue barrier. I wish they would place it somewhere more prominent and display it more attractively. Why pay to have celebrity makeup ranges and then shove them somewhere people can’t really see them!?
The packaging is VERY similar to Maybelline mascaras, the main difference being the colour which is a gorgeous rose gold. The brush is very impressive, it could be the *best* looking mascara brush I have ever seen, and as you know I test ALOT of mascaras! The mascara product itself is a tad disappointing, the colour is good, a very strong black which is quite flattering even against my pale skin! The problem I had was the drying time, it takes a fair bit of time to dry and without realising I smudged it just by blinking, if your in a rush you wouldn’t want to use this one as it needs a good full minute. The results are very impressive, it left me with fanned out lashes that had good volume. The brush gives the lashes a lovely curl and it stays all day which is really impressive. I think if the mascara itself matched the quality of the brush this could be my hold grail mascara, but unfortunately the mascara is a bit too tricky to work with. If your not too bothered about the drying time then this might just be one you want to stock up on! For the BARGAIN price of £2.99 I can’t really fault it!
