New Hair Cut/Colour and Yogi Curls!!

29/04/2012 · beauty · 0

I wanted to tell you about my new hair cut and colour that I had done this week.

My hairdresser Natalie is really amazing! I searched for about 6 months to find a professional home hair stylist and then came across her website. No t sure of what to expect, she completely put me at ease and I have been using her ever since. She is also the face of the Yogi Hair Wand (you might even have seen her on QVC giving hair makeovers using the wand!) and so when I needed my hair cut and coloured this week she offered to try out some curls on me as I was convinced I would never be able to pull them off!

I wanted to go back to my natural hair colour which as you can see from my roots above is quite dark. I just feel like I want a more groomed and glam look as I get older and move away from student life do you know what I mean? Natalie used a semi-permanent colour so I could alter it in about 6 weeks if I felt it was too dark/not dark enough or I didn’t like the colour. Luckily I just love it! I forgot my natural colour was so nice as I have been dying it for so long, but you can see it brings out my blue eyes and just makes my ultra pale skin look more creamy then the sort of pale and sickly look I have been sporting!!

I had it cut a bit shorter to get rid of all the dead ends and to have a more manageable style. As you know I was really poorly and I am sure it affected my hair, it just went sooo knotty and unmanageable. The colour was also just completely dull and to be honest it was getting me so down that I just couldn’t style it or do anything but put it in a ponytail!

The Yogi Hair Wand is a little different to the other wands on the market, they seem to have an extremely tapered barrel (as in it gets alot slimmer at the end) but obviously this can make the curls just drop at the bottom and leave you with those scraggly ends which doesn’t look great! The Yogi Hair Wand has almost the same width all through the barrel and it really helps get that lovely ‘bouncy’ look)

Natalie took the Yogi Hair Wand and wrapped mid-sections around the barrel for just a few seconds. (you can also get a heat protection glove from Yogi so you don’t get any nasty burns!) It took about 20 minutes to do the whole head which is alot quicker than most curlers. The curls were just exactly the look I wanted, that sort of soft wave that just gives you volume and a nice sort of romantic look if that makes sense?

I have put the Yogi Hair Wand on my wishlist as I have never been happy with the curls that I usually end up with, but it really gave me perfect loose waves and they stayed in all night as well (a first for me!) I have to say that Natalie is such a professional and such a lovely person she would never recommend a product or put her name to it unless it really was top quality!

If you want to see some videos of the Yogi Hair Wand in action then head to their website here. There are 3 wands available: the regular style, the fat barrel and the 3 in 1 styler and they are priced at £64.95 except for the 3 in 1 wand which is £89.95! I will be grabbing one on my next payday I think and practising bouncy curls for the summer!!

What do you think of the Yogi Hair Wand?
Do you like to mix up your look by wearing it curly/straight for different occasions?

Thanks so much hun!! I just loved these curls! Every time I have tried to do a look like that I have ended up with ‘perm’ like curls and just look ridiculous!! xx

Hey hun thank you!! I have the exactly same problem my hair is just naturally poker straight and everytime I have tried to curl it they last about 30 minutes and then just drop out. These curls stayed in all night and I had really ‘slippery’ hair from having it conditioned after the hair colour so I thought they would drop out straight away, so I was really happy! xx

Aww thank you hun! That is such a compliment for me because I have suffered with terrible skin for about 3 years. I just started using a new skin care range from Origins and it has just transformed my skin, think I will do a review of it 🙂 xx

I love the soft curls, not too ‘done’ and they look really natural, as does the new colour, you’re right about it suiting your skin tone well!

This haircut suits you well hun. Did the curls last on you? I’ve tried so many curlers and nothing works on me. probably because my hair very long and naturally straight..not what you want when you want lovely curls like yours :-/
