My review of the Maybelline Dream Nude Air Foam Foundation!!

31/01/2012 · beauty · 0

Hi girlies!!

When I was in New York I noticed a lot of foundations that were a bit more sciency then what we have here. They have airbrush foundations in drugstores and foam effect ones from most cosmetic companies. I was dubious about how well a foam one would work so didn’t pick one up…and then maybelline went ahead and launched their one here! Well I got it for £2 off the rrp. price and thought I should at least see if it lives up to the advert hype.
By now you might have seen a few blog reviews of it (and I have to say most of them have been less than complimentary!) but here is my review which is a little different from some of the ones I have read…
Overall rating:4/5
Ease of application: 3/5
Coverage: 4/5
Lasting wear:4/5
Price: £8.99 (£6.99 atm in Superdrug!)
Website: superdrug link

The bottle is sort of like a can and just like with a hair mousse you have to shake the can well before using. Once it has been shaken you press down on the nozzle and the foam comes out quite easily. For me the foam came out clearly coloured with the foundation, but for some reviewers they found plain foam came out. I think this might be because they never shook the can well enough at first (a good 30 seconds worked for me). I distributed it into both hands and then applied like a moisturiser. It had a lovely cooling effect and the foam soon disintegrated leaving the foundation. You do have to rub the foundation in a fair bit so as not to have streaks but I found it very hydrating. The coverage also surprised me as it covered the blemishes I have recently acquired around my t-zone. I wore it all day and was surprised to see how fresh faced I looked, it really gave a ‘I don’t need foundation I have fabulous natural skintone’ effect.

Would I buy it again? Yes I think I would, especially for a holiday as it is so cooling, evens out your skin tone and it also hydrates and doesn’t slide off. My mum also mentioned that some people find these sort of foundations can tighten when on more mature skin and feel sticky or uncomfortable. She didn’t find this and nor did I. I was really happy with the result!!

Maria, I don’t know why some came out more pale then others I took them at the same time, I think I will pop some on in a minute and add some more pictures 🙂

Lauren, yeah I did the same but I think it really is in the shaking of the bottle. I was quite forceful with it and then was terrified it was going to do what other bloggers had talked about but for me it came out smoothly. Definately you have to watch the quanitity you use as I probably had too much on my hands as I had a fair bit left over, guess that means it would last a while though 🙂

I would definately recommend it as for me it felt so refreshing and felt light but had really nice coverage, I speak as a blemish sufferer as well lol xx

It actually looks quite good from your pictures, as you have said a lot of people have had negative opinions on it but this has swayed mine more towards it. I would probably buy it now when it’s cheaper rather than when it’s full price though incase it doesn’t work for me 🙂 xx
