Changing your home can have a massive positive effect on your mental health. But sort of upgrades can you make to improve your home? There is a surprising amount of things you can do that will upgrade your environment. Here are some of our favourite trends for the modern home.
An Outdoor Kitchen
If you are lucky enough to have a large garden, you could make the most of this space by creating a cooking area. This can be as simple as having a permanent barbecue to a full blown kitchen space with a wet bar and cabinets. Having a space like this can create a sense of luxury that will impress your friends and family.
A Spa Bathroom
It doesn’t matter how much space you have, you can turn your bathroom into a spa with the right fixtures. If you have the space for a bath, you could upgrade to a jacuzzi bath and enjoy the relaxation of a real bubble bath. Alternatively, if you only have room for a shower, you could install a jet shower complete with all of the nozzles your heart desires.. What we will say is, don’t try and have both unless you have room for them. There is nothing worse than seeing a standard shower over a luxury bathtub, so choose wisely if you only have room for one.
A Wine Room
This isn’t quite the same as a bar but it can be a lot of fun. A wine room is a bit of a hybrid space that combines wine storage and a place to drink the wine. This can be a great idea if you have a basement area that is going unused. However, if you don’t have a big enough area, a dedicated wine fridge can be useful, especially if you and your friends enjoy having a glass during girls night.
A Bar
On the flip side of the wine room is the home bar. How are they different? Well, a wine room is just for wine, a home bar is filled with any type of alcohol. Wine rooms also tend to be more formal, while a bar can have any theme. A lot of people assume that only men are interested in home bars but this isn’t true. A lot of ladies are recreating the glamour of a Parisian bar à vin, or their favourite nightclub.
Windows and Doors
Changing the windows and doors can have a suroisign effect on a home. Not only can new windows be more energy efficient, they can be safer with better locking systems. As great as those things are, there is no point in upgrading your windows if they aren’t that old. Generally, you can get around 30 years out of your windows if you take care of them. But, if you fancy an upgrade that doesn’t involve smashing some glass, shutters for cottage windows can add some extra charm to your home.
There are many other ways to upgrade your home but these are some of the favourites we have come across. The big question is, what will be your first upgrade for your home?
