The weather is officially a bit pants and that can only mean one thing: Autumn is upon us! Now I will admit I am no fan of stuffy humid weather but I hate rain even more and if your living in the UK you know Autumn means rainy days! That being said it is always exciting when we move into a new season especially for fashion and beauty! Today I thought I would share with you 5 very quick and easy updates you can make to your makeup routine to transition into the cooler weather!
Coral lips can look a bit too bright as the weather cools down and it’s a really good time to switch to pinker and more natural tones. I find that pink toned nudes and rosy hues can look really flattering on every skintone and can really give you that more polished finish that we start to see more of in the Autumn months!

An obvious one but it’s a good time of year to switch from light to medium coverage in terms of your base, as it’s not so bright (and hot!) tinted moisturisers don’t give quite the right finish in Autumn and can look a little bit shiny and light. I tend to stick with glow enhancing bases like NARS Sheer Glow, Rimmel Wake Me Up, Bourjois Healthy Mix and the new Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hr Nude which all give great coverage but still give that lovely glow effect!
Defined brows look way too heavy in Summer and most of us tend to stick with a bit of tinted brow gel or a lighter powder to give a more natural finish (especially as sunlight can really highlight overly made up brows!) Come autumn though defined brows look really chic, Iespecially paired with a flick of liner and a pink lip.
As any trace of a natural tan starts to fade away I find I usually need to take the under eye concealer up a gear and go for a medium/full coverage liquid concealer. My favourites include the NARS radiant creamy concealer, Estee Lauder Doublewear and the Collection Lasting Perfection. I usually set them with a finish powder but I personally find as it cools down I don’t need to use setting powders religiously throughout the day!
I am a big fan of a bronzed eye/coral lip in the Summer months but I usually switch to cooler toned browns at this time of the year, I find they just look that little bit more natural and polished in Autumn even though the same shades in Summer would look rubbish! I absolutely love the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe, I usually wear this all over the lid and blend it out with my fingers right up to the brow bone, to add a bit of light and brightness to the eye I dab a little of MAC’s all that glitters (or Stila kitten) in the centre of my lid, using whatever excess there is under the brow bone just to give a slight sheen!
So thats it, my top 5 quick makeup transitions to take you from Summer to Autumn! I really hope this was useful and I’d love to know what your top transitional makeup tips and tricks are too!

Oh so true, I definitely switch to darker smokey eyes and berry lips! Xx
i really want to try the NARS foundation. I have really dry skin though, so I’m not sure if it would be okay on my skin. What do you think? x

I get quite dry around my nose/cheeks but it does a great job at hiding that (no clinging to dry patches!) and leaves my skin looking flawless (when it definitely isn’t!) xx
Great post and tips Charlotte! I’d love to try the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows once! Permanent taupe looks really gorgeous!

it’s a beautiful base and I have a giveaway to win won atm! xxx
Great tips! I definitely feel like I can define my brows a bit more when the weather is a bit cooler. Same for a heavier foundation, which I know will be able to stay put instead of melt away. I personally go for a brighter lip when it hits autumn and winter because everything else is so dreary.
Personal preferences!

oh it’s so true, I’ve made the mistake of wearing estee lauder doublewear in the heat- it literally melted away!! You’re right- it’s nice to add that pop of colour when the weather is so blah! xxx
Some useful tips! I’m definitely one who switches up the lip products from brighter colours to toned down pinks or deep, plummy purples/reds. 🙂 xx
