Sorry for the terrible top picture- for some reason I couldn’t photograph this palette right with or without flash! I picked this up a few months ago when it was being promoted as an A/W party palette. I don’t know what it was but something about it made me want to try it (most probably the gold sparkly shade!) The palette I picked is called ‘Metropolitan’ and is made up of 4 brown toned eyeshadows and 1 primer, I particularly like that they have shaped it to match each product to each part of the eye so you know exactly how it is meant to be worn!
I applied the primer all over the lid and blended up to the brow bone; it was very different to any primer I’ve used before in the sense that it is a powder rather than a cream and felt just like a normal eyeshadow- it is a champagne shade which has a little shimmer in it and works really well as a base colour as well as a primer. I applied the matte brown shade all over the lid, it was buttery soft and very finely milled- much to my surprise! (it it just me or are darker matte shades usually always chalky?!) I really loved this brown, it’s the perfect base for a flattering smoky eye and even looks good as an eyebrow shade!
I used the taupe shade on the crease blending with my 217 brush and was surprised to find it was a little more red-toned than it appeared in the pan- it reminded me a lot of the taupe shade in the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone palette. It had quite large particles of glitter in it which might be a bit much for some people but the powder was creamy to apply so I found the glitter buffed in really well.
I actually used the brow bone colour as a liner on my lower lashline before applying the pure gold pigment. I liked how the primer looked on the brow bone and wanted to stick with that! The pinky shade is really pretty and quite warm toned so very flattering against paler skintones. It reminded me of the pink shade in the comfort zone palette but I did find it was more like a pressed powder, one over enthusiastic swipe with my brush ended up with half of it falling out!
The gold shade was my favourite of the lot, intense colour payoff, no fall out and absolutely beautiful along the lower lashline- if they made a big pot of this I’d snap it up straight away! All in all I was really impressed with this palette- it’s a great one to pop in your handbag as you can achieve a full on party look or just use the more neutral shades for a pretty day look. One of the best drugstore palettes I’ve used!

These shades are really beautiful, but I would be hesitant to use a powder as a primer as my lids are so oily. How does it hold up? x
