Real Techniques Duo Fibre Brush Collection

01/07/2013 · beauty · 0

Hi girlies how was your weekend? I thought I would show you the newest additions to the Real Techniques brush line which are these duo fibre brushes. They are only available in the set so you do need to buy all three even if your only really interested in trying one in particular but I was really excited when I saw these in my local Boots, I have loved every other real techniques brush I have purchased and had high hopes for these ones! So here is a little bit about the brushes from the Real Techniques website:
Create buildable colour and add texture to look pixel perfect for any occasion and in any light with this first and only duo-fibre set:
includes 3 limited edition brushes:

  • duo-fibre face brush: for lightweight application
  • duo-fibre contour brush: for controlled contouring and sculpting
  • duo-fibre eye brush: for finishing touches to the eye

a true multi-tasker – duo-fibre bristles work with cream, liquid or powder for an unbelievably air-brushed finish
ultra-plush, synthetic taklon bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty-free extended aluminium handles are light and easy to use.

For me the stand out brush was the duo-fibre contour brush, I found it gave me a much more natural look when contouring and just added the perfect soft definition, it is a bit bigger than the standard contour brush from Real Techniques and offers a much lighter (but build-able) finish. The face brush was also nice to use, I say ‘nice’ because it wasn’t anything ground breaking, it applied my loose powder very well giving an almost flawless finish but I would have to say I prefer the original face brush which for me just edges this one in terms of product application and finish. I would say the eye brush was my least favourite, I did like the finish I got when using the brush but the bristles just felt too hard for my eye area and it is definitely not a brush I reach for (unlike the other real techniques eye brushes which I LOVE!)
All in all I would say this is a good brush set but it doesn’t quite live up to the standards set by the rest of the range. It is limited edition too and in my opinion it isn’t something you really need to add to your brush collection. I personally don’t feel like it has dramatically changed the way I apply makeup and I have gradually found myself going back to other brushes! Talking of other brushes would you like to see a review of my other real techniques brushes/ my brush collection?  Let me know!

I agree, its a ‘nice’ set and i don’t regret buying it but doesn’t really compare to the other RT brushes, and when faced with a choice I always choose to use my other RT brushes so these are sitting in my brush holder feeling very unloved 🙁

Such a shame to hear that these aren’t up to the RT’s usual standards, I liked the look of them but wanted to read some reviews before buying and not sure I’ll bother now! x

I thought that these would be even better, after the reviews I don’t think I will be getting any of them though! xxx
