So I was in Superdrug yesterday and I came across the new One Direction for MUA makeup line. I thought I would do a bit of a first impressions of it here! I spotted the nail polishes (with very OPI inspired bottles!), the cheek tints which at first glance look identical to the Revlon Baby Sticks!) and the lipsticks which are you standard drugstore fare. My Superdrug only had 2 nail colours in stock and they were both a bit more suited to winter so I decided to pick up a cheek tint and a lipstick.
I chose the cheek tint in ‘Coral Cutie’ and can I just say I was BLOWN AWAY by the colour payoff of this bad boy! I actually squealed when I swatched it (yes I am that sad). The colour is really beautiful and unlike any other coral cream blushers I have, it leans a bit more towards nude than orange, quite similar in that respect to the Bourjois ‘healthy glow’ cream blush. It is very creamy and has a sort of pan stick formula which makes it a dream to blend. On first impressions I can honestly say this is a really great quality cream blush from MUA and a great one to pick up if your wanting to try cream blushers on a budget!
Next I picked up the lipstick in the shade ‘I want Liam’. It’s a frost formula in a bright warm coral with a hint of orange in it, it’s quite an unusual shade and I was surprised to find it really complimented my skintone and made my eyes look very blue! Once applied it sort of ‘sets’ on the lips and then I found it doesn’t budge, I wore it for a few hours around dinner time and it was intact throughout, past that I’m not sure about it’s lasting power but still pretty impressive for a bright colour. The only negative I had was the packaging which looked and felt very cheap but that’s a pretty small grumble.
Overall I would say this is a fab little range MUA have brought out and it is much better than previous collections from them, the quality of the cheek tint is really outstanding, I think it might be the best drugstore cream blush on the market! All the products in the range are priced at £3 each except the lip polishes which are £2.50 so this is a really affordable range, I would say don’t be put off by the idea of it being a big gimmiky the quality easily outstrips MUA’s standard products. I’ll be back for more!
