Hello girlies how was your weekend? I hope you had the chance to soak up some sun! I spent all of the past weekend moving into a different room downstairs which has been so stressful that I am now dreading the actual house move! We are quite lucky in the fact that the people who owned the house before us had an extension put on to make a kitchen which runs the length of our house, it is a fab kitchen but it is so big you can easily section it off as a large kitchen and a dining room. It means that the separate dining room down stairs has just been sitting unused and unloved! As we are now moving house we want to make sure we can market the property as best as we can as so I realised we should have the empty dining room as a bedroom in the listing. This meant we had to turn the room into a functioning bedroom and I asked my parents if I could actually move into the room which they very nicely agreed to!
I thought it might be quite interesting to share the transformation of the room with you? I know I will be moving soon but I want to make it as nice as possible as I work from home and need a nice living/working space to concentrate (I am easily distracted!) A few things I love already is that the room is flooded with natural light which is brilliant for taking photos, it has double doors that open into the garden for some cheeky sunbathing breaks and there is a little bathroom next door which is sort of like my new ensuite (I’ve put my toothbrush in there and everything!)
What do you think of the things I have added so far? I want to get a new duvet cover some Alex storage from Ikea and also a new bedstead as we will need to replace the one I have brought downstairs. I am also thinking about getting a new desk and I quite like the Ikea Malm dressing table as it has a glass top and a big drawer underneath. I think the theme is going to be ‘no theme’. I have gone with plain white walls and white stained floorboards and just want to add splashes of colour without being limited by a particular theme. Although I am quite partial to monochrome and I have my eye on some lovely patterned rugs!
Do you have any home decor recommendations for me?
I’d love to see your home design posts too!
