Calvin Klein CK One Cosmetics Range Review

13/08/2012 · beauty · 0

CK one 3 in 1 Face Makeup SPF8*£25, CK one Powder Eyeshadow Quad*£25 and CK one Mascara*£17

When I found out Calvin Klein was launching a makeup range I was very very excited!! I was lucky enough to get my hands on a few products from the range and have been really impressed with their quality.

First is the CK one 3 in 1 Face Makeup. It is a serum, primer and face makeup in 1 which is just amazing and great if your too busy for lots of makeup prep on a day to day basis. I was sent two different foundation colours and found the 100 Porcelain was the best match for my skin tone. Maybe it is because I am pale but I find that most light foundations just give me a ghostly look when in fact my skin tone is quite warm despite being very fair. This one really added warmth to my face and literally blended into my skin to make it look like I was having a good complexion day rather than a good foundation day (hope that makes sense!). It has a medium coverage finish which could be built up to be heavier, but I found it covered the blemishes I had and felt ‘heavy’ enough despite the fact I usually like heavy coverage usually.
Next I tried the CK one Powder Eyeshadow Quad in 810 Smoking. A mixture of cool smokey colours this one contains a silver shimmer, a teal, a white and a black. I absolutely loved this quad, firstly because of the swivel opening which is such a great idea and makes me wonder why no one thought of it before! The payoff was very good and the black is the best black shadow I have ever used. I was a bit put off at first by the silver as I usually stick to warm colours but found when this went on it actually had a bit of a champagne finish. The teal was my favourite colour of them all it had a slightly more sheer finish then it looked in the pan but it was just a beautiful colour on and once it was mixed with the silver shimmer it looks STUNNING!!  I used the white powder all over the eye as a base and a brow highlighter and unlike a lot of pale shadows it works really well to compliment the darker colours and enhance the smokey eye.
(on left I applied with only the twisted mascara wand, on right I applied with only the normal wand)
Both eyes with the twisted mascara as the first coat and the normal mascara as the second coat)
Last but not least (what review of mine would be complete without this one!) the CK one mascara. You know I love products that are a bit quirky or clever and this one is just blowing my mind. When you first open the tube the brush is a normal (although very good sized) mascara wand. Now by closing the mascara and twisting the top of it, the wand changes to a twisted style brush! I absolutely loved the results, the mascara itself was the truest black I’ve tried before, this would probably make it a little heavy for the day but as an evening mascara this is really good. I have tried it as a normal mascara, twisted mascara and both of them together and the results are all very impressive, my favourite being to use the twisted mascara and then a top coat of the normal mascara wand. I didn’t even need eyelash curlers either which is a first for me!
If you fancy checking out these products or the rest of the range (I have my eye on the blush/cream duo and the lipsticks!!) then head to the Debenhams website!
What do you think of the CK One Cosmetics range?
Let me know!!
