Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation (SPF15) Review

21/03/2012 · beauty · 0

Hi girlies!!

You might not know this, but long before brands like Illamasqua came along with their epic range of foundations that match pretty much any skin tone, a lot of foundations were made with only a pink base which gave that sort of ‘caked on’ look we all hate! Well most companies have started to realise that we are all different and the foundations we buy now are lot closer to a natural shade. Bobbi Brown was one of the first make up brands (and artists) that use a yellow base so I was excited to try this foundation out!

I never imagined with my pale English rose (OK read ghost-like) like complexion that I would suit a yellow base but after trying the Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation I definitely preferred the yellow base as it took out that sort of ill complexion look I have been rocking of late (seriously someone asked me if I have been unwell and I had actually had quite a good weekend of sleep and relaxation!)

I liked the consistency of this foundation, it was thick but still quite runny which made it very light and easy to apply. It didn’t need too much blending either and I definitely liked the way it made my skin look. As it promises to give a ‘matte complexion’ for oily skin I was excited to see if it would last all day without any shine…BUT….for me my skin was just not ‘oily’ enough I guess.

As you can see in the after picture below it left my nose area quite dry and flaky. I think with continued use it would probably make my skin too dry. I would recommend it for very oily skin, especially if you have struggled to find mattifying foundations that really last all day..but if like me you are more a combination skin type then this might be a little too drying for you!!

Here are some before and after pics:

I think you can see what I mean about the yellow base being a much better colour base, but I think you can also see that it was a little drying for my skin tone 🙁

If you would like to purchase the Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation it costs £29.00 and you can buy it here.

What do you think of Bobbi Brown? Have you tried this foundation before, or do you know a better one to recommend to me?

Let me know!!
