Quirky Dating Ideas in Manchester

19/12/2020 · collaborative post · 0

In this current covid world we have to think a bit outside of the box when it comes to dating, and with that comes a whole lot of stress on top of, you know, the already pretty big first date stress! Today I want to share with you 3 amazing quirky dating ideas if you’re based in Manchester, perfect for finding love even under the current tier 3 restrictions!

The Perfect Park Date.

This is a pretty nice date for any circumstances but it is the perfect lockdown date. I recommend Fletcher Moss Park with it’s beautiful nature trails and a little cafe for grabbing a hot chocolate as you make that awkward first date small talk! They have created beautiful festive trails this year so it’s the perfect spot for a socially distanced first date! I know it might seem a bit, well naff, just walking around a park but there are obviously advantages to it, firstly it’s a safe way to have a socially distanced date, but more importantly it’s a great way to just connect over a simple activity without any distractions. It could be your new favourite first date idea…

The Virtual Cocktail Making Class.

Cocktail making is honestly one of the most perfect first dates ideas, it’s easy to do, it’s interesting and it gives you something to bond over and enjoy doing together. Yes ideally that would mean in the same room but don’t let that put you off, Manchester dating in lockdown doesn’t have to mean zoom calls from your sofa, you can take part in a virtual cocktail making class hosted by Mixology Events based in the city from, well the same sofa but doing something a lot more fun then just making awkward small talk! There is even a competition at the end of the class, a great way to test out if they are a sore loser when you absolutely floor them with the perfect cocktail (that you may or may not have been perfecting all week…)

The Christmas Market.

The larger Christmas markets of previous years might be closed under tier 3 restrictions but luckily smaller christmas markets have remained open and offer the perfect first date setting! I personally think first dates work best with some form of activity and doing some christmas shopping, grabbing some mulled wine and taking in the festive atmosphere is a pretty lovely way to get to know someone new! The smaller markets in Piccadilly Gardens and St Ann’s Square are the perfect setting, plus lets be honest – first date and finishing off your christmas gift buying? It’s a win-win!

I think these are all fab options for a first date regardless of lockdown restrictions, it’s definitely not made being single easy this year but with a little bit of extra thought and a bit of a can do attitude, it doesn’t have to mean the end of your dating life! Try and take some positives from the socially distanced aspect of covid dating, not awkward first hugs or awkward first kisses that little bit too soon, every cloud right?
