Youthful Secrets

08/10/2020 · collaborative post · 0

Everyone wants to banish signs of ageing for as long as they can, but what youthful secrets are you missing out on? If you want to look – and feel – younger, there are some sure-fire ways to achieve your goals. To get started, take a look at these youthful secrets and start turning the clock back now:

Focus on fuller lips

As you age, your lips tend to get thinner and you may notice fine lines appearing around your mouth. With fuller lips, however, you can hide these signs of ageing and enjoy plumper, more youthful, lips. While many people use injectables to achieve a plumper pout, you can fake fuller lips too. Simply select a lip liner that matches your lipstick or gloss and draw just over the outer line of the lower lip and the cupid’s bow. By doing so, you’ll make your lips look fuller and more youthful.

Use sun protection

If you want to keep your skin looking youthful, it’s essential to wear sunscreen. Even if you live in a cloudy climate (like the UK!), the sun can cause a significant amount of damage to your skin. While a facelift might be able to resolve premature ageing caused by exposure to the sun, it can’t fix other types of damage. When you spend time in the sun, you increase your risk of developing skin cancer, which is why it’s so important to use sunscreen whenever you’re out and about. By applying a dedicated sunscreen or using products with SPF, you can keep your skin safe and youthful.

Smile as often as you can

If you want a sure-fire way to look younger, smile! Many people feel self-conscious about their smile, which prevents them from showing off their best feature. When you’re smiling, laughing and having fun, it can take years off your appearance. A genuine smile is always your best accessory and it will boost your confidence too.

Exfoliate your skin

If you don’t already exfoliate your skin as part of your beauty regime, it’s time to start. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and debris from the skin, which allows the youthful skin underneath to be revealed. With regular exfoliation, you can enjoy a firmer, glowing complexion. However, don’t be tempted to over-exfoliate as this can cause unnecessary damage. If you want to switch to something more intensive, try a glycolic acid or salicylic acid peel to enhance your skin and erase fine lines.

Boost collagen

As you get older, your body produces less collagen. This means that your skin will lose its elasticity over time, which can result in sagging and drooping. To prevent this, you’ll want to increase collagen production and choose products that contain added collagen. Facial massage can be a great way to boost collagen production, so book yourself a spa treatment or pampering session now.

Stay hydrated

When you’re dehydrated, it always shows in your skin. If your skin looks dull, flaky or dry, it could be a sign that your body’s hydration levels are too low. Most adults should drink around two litres of water a day, so try increasing your water intake if your skin is looking lacklustre. When you consume more water, you’ll notice that your skin looks plumper and feels firmer, which will automatically make you look younger.

Use colour correctors

When choosing make-up, it’s important to select products that work with your skin’s natural undertones. However, colour correctors are also a great way to give you the coverage you need whilst hiding any imperfections. If you have dark circles under your eyes, for example, an apricot colour corrector will hide the blue tinge and make you look bright-eyed. Alternatively, try a green colour corrector if you want to banish redness under the eyes or on the cheeks.

Embrace bold eyebrows

If your eyebrows are thinning, fill them in with a pencil or powder. Thick, bold eyebrows give your face definition and can help you to look younger. If you don’t want to spend time recreating the perfect arch every day, consider semi-permanent make-up instead. With regular top-ups, you can enjoy fuller, bolder brows with minimal hassle.

Maintaining a youthful appearance

Once you find the right range of products and techniques to suit your skin, maintaining a youthful appearance is easier than you think. Whether you’re starting to notice fine lines, you’re fed up of seeing dark circles under your eyes or you want to prevent hyperpigmentation, the right combination of treatments, products and techniques can help you to banish the signs of ageing and maintain a youthful appearance.

Mixing things up on my feed with this picture I to Mixing things up on my feed with this picture I took in San Francisco, was such an amazing trip and the Academy of Sciences there is so amazing! How lucky are we to be surrounded by such beauty? Been thinking a lot about the little moments of joy we can find during lockdown. For all the awful things we’ve had to endure during this, the little moments in nature, time spent in our bubbles and moments of kindness filling our feeds...these are the things you cling too when times are tough.
If you squint just right you can see Tower Bridge. If you squint just right you can see Tower Bridge. I’m doing that in real life right now, squinting and seeing future day trips, staycations and people watching outside cafes. It’s not easy to see but squint just right and they are there in the distance. 💕
Another little throw back to a lovely summers day. Another little throw back to a lovely summers day. I think we’ve all been feeling a bit fed up of being locked down recently, the news doesn’t help and even with 3 vaccines we have a long way to go. It’s definitely been a struggle for me, I’m quite a positive person but there are groundhog days in this that really test that positivity! Just really wanted to say I get how you’re feeling, this is totally crap and I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year, I honestly can’t believe this is real life sometimes! We have an end goal now though, however long it takes we know this will end so hold on to that and let’s just give this final lockdown (fingers crossed) the best chance it can have to flatten the curve and help save lives. Sending you all lots of love xx
It’s such a weird time right now, we have a vacc It’s such a weird time right now, we have a vaccine and a potentially second vaccine on the way here in the UK which is great news. But seeing the numbers rise and the awful death toll has definitely left us all a bit shaken. I’ve been looking back at old photos of days out and remembered this amazing day I had at @leedscastleuk for the festival of flowers. Can’t wait to just go off exploring when this is all over. Trying to keep that in mind when the little lockdown wobbles hit. Sending lots of love to you all, one day we’ll tell our grandkids about the year we spent inside! 💕

For me living in a vulnerable household and having PTSD, well it’s been a rocky year! I’m trying to focus on things that bring me joy and so I’ve been working on giving my blogging space a makeover! How are you holding up?
