By now I am sure you have all had just about enough of this ‘velvet lips’ trend! I know there has been a massive influx of products (and blog posts!) on them but I haven’t seen too many affordable options and I’ll be damned if I’m spending £10+ on a liquid lipstick when there are some brilliant options for under £5! Brilliant options like these MUA velvet lips, at just £3 each they are easily the best value liquid lipsticks I’ve tried, but more than that they are genuinelly good products- they don’t budge all day and unlike a fair few high end liquid lipsticks, you can layer these without them going patchy!
I found the best way to apply these was to take your time! I used the doe foot applicator to line my lips with the product before filling them. The next simple (but crucial!) step was to wait, no smacking your lips together, no licking your lips, no movement of your lips at all! The product is tacky to touch for about 45 seconds and it’s important to let this ‘set’, once it has it feels like there is nothing on your lips but if you don’t wait that 45 seconds it can all get a bit patchy and gross!
I got 3 shades, Kooky- a purple, Funk- A raspberry pink and Atomic- a neon orange (and when I say neon I mean NEON) but there are 5 in total (the red and neon pink were out of stock in my Superdrug but I am definitely going back for them) I really liked the consistency of these, they are fully opqaue with perhaps the exception of the purple shade (kooky: which I found quite hard to work with at first, but a bit of practice made this is a beautiful shade to wear!) All in all I am really pleased I picked these up and for £3 they are a total steal, I have been wearing Funk non-stop it’s such a beautiful raspberry pnk and I know Atomic will be my Summer staple!
What are your thoughts on the liquid lipstick trend?
