Top 10: ‘My Lips But Better’ Shades

07/12/2013 · beauty · 0

Today I wanted to share with you a new series I will be doing here on my blog. It will be my top picks for all different sorts of things and I am starting off with my top 10 ‘ my lips but better’ shades. I have made a new tab below my header which is called ‘series posts’ and you’ll be able to find all of them there and also under the label ‘top picks’. I really hope it’ll be a useful series and let me know if you have any requests!
Collection’s Cream Puff Lip Cream in Fairy Cake £2.99 : These are really beautiful and a great way to try out the ‘liquid lipstick’ fad without breaking the bank. They have a really silky texture and glide onto the lips and last an impressive amount of time without needing to touch up (4/5 hours). I found that they look and feel moisturizing and can be re-applied without a patchy finish like some liquid lipsticks. The shade ‘Fairy Cake’ adds a slight pink tint to the lips without looking over done, a perfect day pink.
Little Mix @ Collection, Jade £2.99: All of the Little Mix for Collection lipsticks are amazing quality but the Jade lipstick is just a beautiful nude/pink that in my opinion is MAC quality. If feels like a MAC cremesheen, applies beautifully and lasts around 4 hours before needing to be topped up. I particularly love that the shade is quite strong for a nude, it gives an opaque finish and is really nice if you suffer with dry lips.
Kate Moss @ Rimmel Shade 19 £5.49: Theres a reason why the Kate Moss for Rimmel lipsticks are so popular, they are high end quality at a really affordable price and the shade range is beautiful. Shade 19 is the perfect pinky nude, it feels moisturizing on the lips and gives a slightly glossy finish which looks really pretty. I reach for this lipstick a lot and it’s one of the best nudey pink shades I own.
Rimmel Color Rush, Keep Mauving £5.99: With every brand release of a chubby stick comes better quality and better pigmentation. The new Rimmel versions are no exception, they give excellent colour pay off, give a satin like finish and have a faint vanilla scent which is much nicer than the Revlon ones! Once the sheen wears off they leave a beautiful stain which lasts all day, making them perfect for work!
Maybelline Super Stay Lipstick in Lasting Chestnut £6.99: I have so much love for the Super Stay Lipsticks and this one is one of my absolute favourites. It is more of a reddy nude (hence the name!) and it instantly makes me look more polished and put together whilst still being an easy to wear shade. These lipsticks have the best formulas that set on the lips and then don’t budge all day, I have worn them for 8 hours before without needing to touch up, perfection.
Rimmel Moisture Renew in Vintage Pink £6.29: This is a perfectly named lipstick as the pink is very much a vintage shade, a beautiful lilac toned pink it’s so easy to wear and especially looks nice paired with smokey eyes. The new formulations are really moisturizing if a little slippy on the lips- if you have dry lips you will love them! Wear wise is a bit shorter due to the formula- around 3 hours but easy enough to touch up even without a mirror.
Topshop Lips in Beatnik £8: This is my holy grail, it matches my natural lip shade almost exactly for the perfect ‘my lips but better’ finish. It has a slight shimmer running through it which makes the lips look fuller and glossy- I can’t recommend this enough if your’e looking for a moistursing dirty pink/nude with great staying power (5/6 hours).
L’oreal Color Riche, Julianne’s Nude £8.19: A peachy nude that I chose based on the skintone of Julianne Moore (pale with freckles like me!). It is a peachy nude that warms the complexion, gives a flush of colour and looks really classic and chic. I love the formula too which lasted around 5 hours without needing to be topped up, a beautiful classic shade.
Soap and Glory in The Missing Pink £9: Quite price for a high street lipstick but the formula is pretty gorgeous and the shade is particularly beautiful. I have seen this on blondes and brunettes and it looks equally as good- I would especially recommend this if your in school or college and aren’t really supposed to (or don’t like to!) wear lots of makeup. It does have a slightly frosty finish which might not be to everyone’s taste but the plumping formula stops it from looking old fashioned!
L’oreal Glam Shine in Sin For Peach £6.99: Last but no means least is a new addition for my lipstick collection which I have been loving! The glossy balm sticks from L’oreal are a perfect hybrid of lipstick and lipgloss with excellent colour payoff and a shimmery glossy finish. What impressed me the most was that the colour is so opaque, with a lot of glosses the colour applies sheer but these look like lipsticks with a layer of gloss over the top. I actually love the whole range but this shade is an easy to wear pinky/peach, it lasts around 2/3 hours due to the moisturizing formula- great if you suffer with dry lips.
So there you have it, my top ‘My Lips But Better’ Shades, let me know what you think of the ones I chose and if you have any ‘top picks’ requests too!

The collection liquid lipsticks reminds me a bit of the NYX lip glosses! I didn’t know that Little Mix had a collection – if they’re MAC quality, they’re a must-try!
I’ve been eyeing the Kate Moss range for a long time – I agree that all the shades are so gorgeous! This one looks particularly great too! I’ve been sceptical about the TopShop makeup but will have to try them out!

All of these look gorgeous and now I have more to add to my Christmas List!
Can’t wait to read your next Top 10, lovely idea!

Thank you for sharing the shades in your lips because sometimes they vary from the stick…
I would not be able to choose but the Loreal one would be a good candidate.
