My Top 3 Micellar Waters

There have been so many different micellar waters being launched since Bioderma became a bit of a blogger cult product, I thought it would be nice to do a comparison of my top 3 which are all readily available here in the U.K.  I am going to score each one an overall score out of 5, this is of course only my opinion, skincare is so subjective so let me know if you’ve had different experiences with any of the ones I mention!

La Roche Posay Solution Micellaire Physiologique
£11.50 for a 200ml bottle

This was the first micellar water I ever purchased and I personally found this to be very gentle but effective at removing makeup. I particularly like that this doesn’t sting my eyes at all but I do find you need to work a little harder to get every scrap of eye makeup of with it. It is actually the highest price point of all three which definitely surprised me, I personally wouldn’t repurchase this one over the other 2 unless it was on some sort of offer. It does a decent job but it definitely didn’t ‘wow’ me.

B. Pure Micellar Water
£4.99 for a 150ml bottle

For me this is the harshest of the three, it removes eye makeup really easily but that comes at a price. My eyelids can be a tad sensitive but this stung like crazy! It is the cheapest but it is also the smallest bottle so it only just works out cheaper than the others. I do love the bottle though, it has a squeeze top so you can control the amount you pour onto the cotton pad. It is also the easiest to get hold of though as it’s stocked in Superdrug and it always seems to be on offer (its currently around £3!) I personally just couldn’t get on with this and I did notice it had the longest ingredients list and contains Phenoxyethanol which for some reason always seems to cause me to have some reaction, usually redness and swelling which isn’t pleasant! Definitely not one for sensitive eyes!

Bioderma Sensibo H2O Solution Micellaire

The Daddy of Micellar Waters, the Bioderma Sensibo (formerly crealine) was the product of the 2012 and on every bloggers lust lists! They finally started stocking it here in the UK and I immediately stocked up on 2 big bottles and have been using it ever since. The hype is totally justified, this one removes EVERY scrap of makeup and it really soothing on the skin. My only negative is that if I use a tad too much on the eye area it can sting a teensy bit, not enough to cause alarm or irritation but enough to mention! Otherwise this cult product deserves all the plaudits, and if your looking for a soothing, refreshing micellar water that removes makeup very quickly then this is the one for you! This also comes in the biggest bottle at 250ml and there are travel sized bottles available too!

So my overall winner was the Bioderma. I based this on it’s price:product ratio, quick removal of makeup- especially eye makeup, and also the fact that it was so gentle and soothing on my slightly sensitive eye area.
