Rimmel Scandaleyes Lycra Flex Mascara £6.99

Hi girlies! Sorry I have been a bit M.I.A but I have spent the past weekend redecorating my room and updating my storage with some new bits from Ikea. I will be popping up a room tour video later in the week to show you how my room looks now and I hope you all like what I’ve done! Onto todays review, I picked up the Rimmel Scandaleyes Lycra Flex Mascara in Superdrug mainly because the brush looked really good for creating volume. I don’t usually buy Rimmel mascaras, I always feel a bit disappointed in them to be honest but nevertheless I did pick this one up so here is my review!

So firstly Rimmel says this mascara was created as the first oversized volume mascara with Lycra for soft and flexible lashes. It has a ‘Max Density’ brush which provides full coverage from the lashline in one coat and the Lycra formula is weightless whilst giving a ‘voluptous’ look with flexible lashes that are never stiff or brittle. Does this sound familiar? Yep the claims are pretty similar to the Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara which I personally loved but does this one match up to the Maybelline offering?

This isn’t a terrible mascara but it does have quite a few flaws which for me means the Mega Plush wins the competition for the best ‘flexi’ mascara I’ve tried. Firstly the brush is definitely thicker than the Maybelline one and has a bit of a christmas tree shape to it, it looks really impressive but I found it picks up too much product which results in smudging on application. Smudging aside the brush does live up to the blurb of ‘full coverage from the lashline’ but the product itself doesn’t dry very well. It means you needs a good few minutes to let the mascara dry or you end up with yet more smudging everywhere! I have to admit that although I liked the end result I didn’t love it, I personally think there are lots of other budget brands who do mascaras a lot better than Rimmel and this latest offering hasn’t done anything to change my mind.

So not the best mascara review to kickstart the week with but I still hope it was helpful!
Do you have any mascara recommendations for me?
Let me know!
