MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter

21/03/2013 · beauty · 0

I have seen a few reviews of this one doing the rounds and I thought I would share my opinion of it with you too! Part of the new ‘Undress Your Skin’ collection which also features a Flawless Skin Primer and Illuminating Foundation.
MUA Product Description
“A lightweight baked powder designed to provide sheer coverage and a radiant soft-focus effect to transform your complexion with luminescence shimmer. The Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder perfects any look by creating a natural, healthy glow that is suitable for all skin tones.”

Initial Thoughts
The packaging really appealed to me which I was surprised about, I liked the clear acrylic lid with a white base and white lettering, I think it looks quite smart and definitely more expensive than it actually is! The product itself was a tad rougher than I had imagined, it’s not finely milled like a lot of blushers/highlighters which means there is less product fall out, it also makes it easier to apply. It is beautifully designed in the pan, it reminds me of the Sephora single eyeshadows with a sea shell sort of design. The powder is a flattering champagne shade which is great for my pale skin, I did wonder whether darker skinned girlies might find this a tad ashy on though?

After Use
I have to say this product really impressed me, it gives a gorgeous glow to the skin, much like a powder version of Benefits Hi Beam. I used my Real Techniques setting brush to apply it along my cheek bones, down my nose and on the brow bone. It gave my complexion a boost which it has been lacking recently, I think it mimics that glow you get when you have caught a little bit of sun and just look ‘healthy’. I was also impressed with it’s staying power, it lasted all day and looked much the same at the end of the day as when I first applied it.

Yay or Nay?
I have to say this gets a big thumbs up for me, I think it could well be my new favourite highlighter! It is a step up for the MUA brand too, the packaging is really nice and the quality is excellent. If your looking for a champagne toned highlighter on a budget but don’t want to compromise on quality I would definitely recommend this one, however if your darker skinned than maybe have a swatch in store to make sure it isn’t too light for your skintone.
What do you think of MUA?
Do you have a favourite highlighter I should try out too?

I really like this product too, much easier to blend than the High Beam you mentioned (which I’ve also tried). Have you tried the setting spray by MUA, it’s always sold out in my local Superdrug and I’m dying to try it!
