My 2013 Resolutions
I have seen a lot of these New Years Resolutions posts and I have loved reading them so I thought I would share mine with you too! Now I am calling mine ‘My 2013 Resolutions’ because I find if I call them New Years Resolutions that’s all they ever end up being, something I do for the first few weeks of a new year and then I forget about. I want to approach these things sort of like a healthy eating plan, you have to make a lifestyle change because fad diets only last for as long as you can keep them going. So these are my resolutions for 2013, let me know what you think!
1. Drink more water
I know this seems totally naff and boring but I really want to make a big effort to hydrate more, I can actually go hours and hours without a drink and it’s just really bad for your body and your skin to not stay hydrated. This will be quite difficult for me because I actually quite dislike the taste of water so I will find lots of other ways to stay hydrated (no I don’t mean through Vodka, would be nice if it counted though!)
2. Buy and USE a diary
I actually got my new diary today, I used to buy them and then totally forget I had them! I am a total scatter brain, it drives my friends mad and I always double book/forget/run out of time and money before the end of the month. This isn’t because I am so darn popular but because I am too lazy to stay organised, but 2013 will be the year this changes!
3. Blog everyday
This one isn’t to everyones taste, some people don’t like to blog everyday but I do, I see my blog as a bit of an online diary where I can share with you everything I am getting up to, I hope that’s one of the reasons you like reading my blog actually. I never ask for feedback but I would love to know what you like about Carlotta’s Beauty Spot? I do put a big amount of effort into keeping it a bright and cheerful place for you to lose a bit of time reading my ramblings. I sometimes talk about darker or more important subjects but I still like to keep those things interesting and not depressing! I was published in the Handpicked Media book in 2012, featured in a beauty magazine and went to over 500 followers here on my blog. Sometimes I see bloggers says that ‘it means the world’ to them that you read their blogs and I am totally sure it does, but it has been a life changing thing for me. With my depression this blog has been a reason to get up some days when I have felt overwhelmed and alone. I have met some amazing girls and really feel like I am becoming the person I have always wanted to be everyday and that is all thanks to you lovely people!
4. Say YES!
Being clinically depressed can sometimes (ironically) make you feel…well….depressed! Seriously sometimes I get so down thinking about this disease I have and it can be all consuming. I have a lovely family and some amazing trusted friends who I know I can rely on totally but sometimes I just want to lock myself in a dark room and never come out. Now I am not saying every time someone says to me ‘lets do something’ or ‘lets go somewhere’ I will, sometimes I have to ride out my moods because you can’t always predict how you will feel with depression but I will definitely be making a conscious effort to say yes more and to spend time growing as a person.
5. Learn more
I really want to take some classes this year to improve myself and to make me more confident in different areas. I love jewellery making and I love photography so I will be signing up at my local college to do some short courses, hopefully it will lead to me meeting some new like minded people as well! I will also try and attend some blogging seminars to get a better handle on this blogging world I am in, especially for help with html coding as you all know I am pretty clueless with that!
6. Attend blogging events
I am so nervous and scared to attend events that I always say no when I am asked. I am totally a shy and self conscious person and haven’t really met any new people since I was diagnosed with depression. This has made it near on impossible for me to feel confident by myself but I want to get a little of the ‘old’ me back who was a bit of a badass London girl who wasn’t afraid of anything! I need to remind myself these events aren’t an ‘obligation’ or even ‘work’ they are lovely parties with free goodies, great networking and from what I gather some pretty yummy food and drink! If I think like this then I shouldn’t be too scared!
7. Go out alone
Another depression one, sorry! Since being diagnosed with depression I have been finding it pretty hard to go out of the house alone. For the first 6 months I had to go EVERYWHERE accompanied by my mum or dad. It was the post traumatic shock of my abuse which made me terrified of every little noise and movement. I have started to gain confidence in this area, I can now get the bus to town on my own and I can meet people other than my Mum and Dad which was impossible 6 months ago. I know you might read this and think I am totally a weirdo but this is something I have really found hard to cope with so please try to be a little understanding. I want to start popping into town once a week with my iPad and blogging from a coffee shop on my own, even if I do it where I will be met by someone to go home with it’s all a way to boost my confidence.
That’s it really girlies, not too much but things that will be life changing for me. 2012 was a very big year for me but unfortunately it was mainly a sad year. Now I am starting to see light at the end of the depression tunnel I am hoping 2013 will be ‘my’ year where I can really start to mould myself into the happy, healthy person I now believe I deserve to be. Let me know what your resolutions are or leave me your post links if you have blogged about them!

Great resolutions! I need to drink more water too, although for me that’s quite hard. Taking classes also sounds like that should be fun!
