OK it took be agggggges to put this post together but I wanted to show you the Autumn/Winter nail colours I am loving atm. I have a big love for high end polishes but all of these ones are cheap and cheerful but perfect for this time of year! I have included lots of different colours and thought I would start of with some lovely pictures for you then I will tell you the brands/costs, quite a few are just £1!!
What do you think?! I am absolutely loving these nail wheels, I was thinking about swatching all of my polishes onto wheels and the having them on a chain so I can just look through them all and decide on a colour that way, is it just me who sometimes forgets how a colour applies or looks on the nail? I applied to coats to each nail so that gives you some indication of the coverage you can expect. I found that 2 coats was enough for each of the polishes to get a truly opaque finish, except of course the 2 glitter polishes I have included.
So lets start from the brightest nail colour (the bright gold/amber polish) which is the top right hand corner:
1. L.A COLORS Color Craze Nail Polish in Gold Nugget £1
So first up we have one of my favourite colours, I guess this could be a love/hate shade as it is a very bright gold. I think the Gold Nugget name is perfect it is like that cheap fake gold you can buy in tourist shops! I love it though and for £1 it is amazing quality, it covers in just one coat but I used two for a completely opaque finish, one would definitely have been enough though!
2. MODELS OWN Boogie Nights Nail Polish £5
I wanted something from this collection of glitter polishes and I couldn’t decide which one I liked best, in the end my love of purple swayed me to this polish and I am glad it did! Big chunks of glitter that apply very easily, 2 coats of this looks pretty good without a base colour which is very unusual for glitter polishes.
3. L.A COLORS Color Craze Nail Polish in Goddess £1
Another £1 bargain this is a creamy sheer nude polish with big chunks of holographic glitter particles running through it. It is a very pretty and unusual shade, I think it would look nicer with a nude base coat but it looks really nice just on it’s own. I think it is a nice ‘grown up’ way to do the glitter nail look.
4. MODELS OWN Nail Polish in Nude Beige £5
This is my fail safe nude polish, I find the tone of this is perfect for my pale hands, it looks good with almost any glitter layered over it and it looks beautiful for a smart day time autumnal look.
5. Sally Hansen INSTA-DRI in Teal-y Fast £1
The first of my £1 Sally Hansen bargains from Poundland. This is a beautiful teal with a slight shimmer running through it. It applied very evenly and 2 coats makes it fully opaque. I love these jewel inspired polishes!!
6. Sally Hansen INSTA-DRI in Bronze Ablaze £1
Another one of the £1 bargains from Poundland this bronze colour is just gorgeous, it’s a rich bronze and reminds me of caramel, the name ‘ablaze’ is perfect for this colour and I cannot believe the price of it!
7. Max Factor Mini Nail Polish in Intense Plum £2.99
I love these minis from Max Factor, they are especially good for holidays because you can pop a few different colours in your suitcase without having to worry about your weight allowance! This plum has a red tone to it making it much warmer and almost creamy on the nail. Really nice finish too for such a teeny brush!
8. Max Factor Mini Nail Polish in Graffiti £2.99
This mini was a little harder to get opaque as is has a bit of a rough finish. The glitter running through it is stronger than the nail polish itself, this means it takes about 2-3 coats before the colour starts to look fully opaque, it might work better paired with a plain polish to give it a deeper finish but it is still a lovely festive shade!
9. MUA Nail Varnish in Plum Noir £1
Can you believe this is MUA? I am loving their polishes atm and have also picked up a gorgeous mint green shade. They go a bit streaky but again 2-3 coats and they are opaque and the finish is lovely and shiny. They last an impressive amount of time too without chipping!
10. Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Black Berry £3.99
I love the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine colours, this blackberry is my favourite, it goes on quite thickly and you just need one coat for a fully opaque finish. It looks so professional when it’s on your nails and so shiny, everyone comments when I wear this on how lovely my nails look!
11.Revlon COLORSTAY Nail Enamel in Vintage Rose £7.99
This colour sold out for ages in my Boots and online and I can totally see why, its an easy to wear pinky taupe colour which only needs one coat, doesn’t chip and is really flattering on pale girlies!
12. Barry M Instant Effects Nail Paint in Gold Foil £3.99
I bought this last year and I still love it, 2 coats for a metallic look like you’ve dipped your nails in pure gold. I absolutely love this, love it love it love it. Did I mention I like it a bit? The perfect festive nail colour. Period.
13. Sally Hansen INSTA-DRI in Uptempo Plum £1
Another poundland wonder, this plum is lovely because the shimmer running through it stops the purple looking dull which I often find with dark purple polishes. This is a deep purple and is almost black/purple when you apply 2 coats, I love it but I do save it for when I have a (fake) tan as it can verge on halloween dress up otherwise!
14. GOSH Nail Lacquer in Holographic Hero £4.99
We all know the big hoopla surrounding this amazing holographic nail colour. I wasn’t convinced at first but once it dried I was ‘ooooohing and ahhhhhing’ so much that my mum came and had a look, and then joined in! The holgraphic effect is all sciency and clever, and I’ve totally fallen for the blogger hype around this one. It also dries impressively fast!
15. Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Polish in Beige Distinction £5.99
A beautiful beige which is slightly warmer than the Models Own Polish, I actually prefer this on it’s own than layered with glitter polishes, it doesn’t sit well with any top coats either, it looks best as it is, and I love the colour so much I have almost finished this bottle!
16. Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Watermelon £3.99
I only just got this colour and I really like it, I hope they start bringing out more colours in this range because the finish is just exceptional. My nails dried quickly, evenly and were so shiny and polished looking. It really looks like you’ve had gel nails done professionally!
17. Sally Hansen INSTA-DRI in Ruby Rush £1
The only red in my colection, this is such a gorgeous ruby red and I love it with two coats for a deeper finish. The colour is really sexy and looks gorgeous and so expensive, I haven’t seen another colour like it. I would 100% recommend you search out these Sally Hansen polishes in your local poundland, they are a total steal!
18. L.A COLORS Color Craze Nail Polish in Cactus £1
The last one girlies! This is a lovely green/gold which reminds me of a Chanel nail polish. It is very delicate and if you saw it on the shelf you might ignore it but it looks amazing on, it has a shimmer running through it. I wear this shade alot because it has a bit of a grungy/fashion feel to it which I really love.
So I think that is a fair amount of budget nail polishes for one post! I am loving any berry, gold, silver or royal colours for winter and I am wearing mine on a short square shaped nail.
