4 Great Ways You Can Declutter Your Home

09/02/2022 · charlotte evans · 0

A lot of the time, when your home has a lot of clutter, it can be difficult to feel comfortable. Clutter finds its way into every home from time to time, and it’s not always as simple as just throwing out what you don’t want. What happens when once you’ve gotten rid of everything that you don’t want, your home is still cluttered? Well, there’s a lot more you can do than binning it, it’s about how organised you can be. Your living space is important, and keeping it comfortable should be the main purpose of your home.

Floor space

One of the main reasons a home can feel cluttered or claustrophobic is the lack of floor space. Even if there’s no mess in your home, too much on the floor can cause you to feel like you haven’t got room to move around freely, and it’s important that you look for better ways to keep your floors clear. Start keeping things on tables, or have shelves put up to keep things like shoes off of the floor. Maintaining your floor space can make a significant difference in how open your home feels.

Less is more

Having far too many decorations or pieces of furniture in your home can start to feel a bit too busy, and even when it’s all things that you like and enjoy – too much can take away from how comfortable you are. Of course, everyone has their own tastes, and to some a home cluttered with personal enjoyments is the perfect picture of cozy, but for others not so much. Sometimes it’s better to enjoy things in moderation, and one painting up on the wall would look far more appealing than a more eclectic style wall.

Stop hoarding

It’s hard to tell yourself no sometimes when you’re just window shopping and there’s something you feel would be perfect for your home. There’s only so much you can keep at home, and there comes a point where adding more is going to ruin what you’ve already got going on. Learning to tell yourself no when shopping is going to save you money and discomfort. Of course, what you’ve got will start to feel boring someday, and at that point – be ready to let go of some things. There’s plenty of money to be made back on selling used furniture, but checking out skip bin waste types for the items you need to dispose of can make the process much quicker.

Smarter storage

Kitchens are some of the biggest offenders when it comes to clutter. There’s just too much equipment and utensils to keep neatly in one room. However, not everything has to be kept in cupboards or put on shelves, there are often simpler and more space-efficient ways to store your things. For example, when it comes to your kitchen, installing a pan rack can help you clear up a significant amount of cupboard space. Your utensils will hang freely from the wall and will be easy to get to whenever you need to reach for them. Your cupboard space is now open for more of your belongings.
