Your wedding day is going to be fantastic. Of course, this does take effort to plan and make just right for you. Most of us willingly join into this planning project, enlisting help from our families and friends, and using sites like ours to get more information regarding how to proceed.
Unfortunately, as with any project, there are sometimes difficulties that can leave us somewhat unable to move forward. If multi-million-pound construction projects or logistics firms can encounter issues that cost money, time and energy, then it’s true that planning one singular romantic day in your life can also become challenging in spirit.
That shouldn’t make you feel tired or rob you of your hope for a great day – these issues can be overcome, and doing so makes your special day that much better. However, while you should absolutely chase that fairytale wedding if you wish to, it’s also important to consider the difficulties you may experience when planning a wedding.
Let’s consider some of that advice below, and the possible solutions to implement:
Budgeting Restraints
Budgeting restraints can and will come along unless you are being blessed with an open budget or someone paying for the entire affair. At the very least, the contributions of those who may wish to donate to your wedding fund need to be well-budgeted for, even with Buddy Loans, in order to make sure that you don’t waste this money.
That said, just because a party may have money to throw around doesn’t mean they should do this. Value for money is important too, if only to keep your spending limited and you focusing on the wedding that works for you, not one that impresses other people.
We have many excellent budgeting guides for weddings, including our work here, and so it’s best to pore over the budgeting issues that may apply to you and try to use those techniques.

Planning For Time, Time For Planning
While it’s very true that Covid-19 and its associated lockdowns have led most wedding plans to either minimize or become postponed, it’s relatively important to consider the timeline of your planning.
Of course, services may only be available at certain times of the year, or professional bands, photographers and catering services may only be available to you on certain days. For this reason, it’s important to keep something of a deadline.
It’s best to structure this based on the most important and fixed timing considerations. For instance, perhaps it’s only next Spring that your family can fly out to be with you and to enjoy your wedding, based on a surgery that your father has to have beforehand. Okay, so that gives you a timeline. Maybe there are three weekends in Spring that your ideal venue is available. Okay- that provides us with another consideration. From there, we can move on and start to come to a sort of deadline for various bookings and deposits.
This can be used to help you structure what work you assign to those in your planning party, and when those tasks must be completed by. It may take some time to achieve, but following this process can be tremendously helpful – and it helps you avoid things from feeling too overwhelming.
Disagreements & Conflicts
Of course, disagreements always arise when it comes to planning anything, especially in an intimate family setting where money is on the line and two families may have different expectations of what the wedding should be.
For that reason, it’s important to only invite those people to your planning group who you know can behave. It may be both mothers and a friend each, or it may simply be that one family has agreed to plan for everything considering how they live in the host country where the wedding is to be taken.
It’s important you have sit down conversations to discuss what’s important to you as a couple, and what might be nice for your family. For instance, if your family and the family of your spouse come from two different cultures, it can be worth squaring that circle in terms of tradition to avoid any future disagreements. Expect some to remain – not everyone is perfect, but in this light you can at least work on them, keep everyone updated, and make sure everyone is respectful of the process.
A Bad Management Structure
This flows on naturally from our prime point. Make sure that certain members of your trusted planning party are given specific tasks, and that they know that they answer to you. This process can seem a little bit militaristic, but the truth is that if decisions are to be made, then a quasi-management structure needs to take form. This can avoid you feeling wishy-washy and instead make sure everyone knows who makes the decisions, who comes with you to visit certain businesses, and who might drive with you to various venues or taste the test menu ahead of time.
Failing To Choose Backups
The worst thing that can happen is that a photographer pulls out before your wedding day, and you have no alternative. This is perhaps considered light in terms of what could (and regularly does) go wrong in wedding planning.
For that reason, it’s always good and healthy to have a few backups on hand. This might involve having a second band on hand, or making sure you have alternate means of arriving at your wedding, or simply making sure you register your interest with more than one venue before you make your final selection.
Availability
Just make sure that all services are available at the time you want them for. For instance, it might be that you’re absolutely set on a certain photographer, but are they willing to drive sixty miles to the venue? Perhaps. They’ll likely charge more.
In this respect, we not only allow the services to perform for us, but we respect them as professionals. How much time do they need to set up the band or catering? These questions can help you understand exactly what’s on offer.
With this advice, we hope you can plan a wedding in the best possible capacity.
