Single at New Years

19/12/2019 · charlotte, Lifestyle · 16

So just as Christmas begins to wind down it’s time to think about making new years eve plans! Over the years I have done everything from house parties to the London fireworks, big club nights to the ball drop in Times Square (and a fair few happy pj and face mask new years eve’s too!) I am a bit of a New Years fangirl and as being single at new years isn’t always easy (although there is nothing wrong with being happily single) I thought I would share 10 ways to spend new years eve if you are single and hoping to meet someone special…

Plan a party

Seriously nothing is more quintessentially New Years Eve than a house party and hosting means you can curate the guest list. Invite people you know and ask them to bring a single friend or someone you haven’t met before and you might meet someone special or at the very least be a matchmaker for 2 other people on the night!

Go to the ball

Nothing says new years like a fancy party. Be it a charity ball or black tie ball, they pop up all over the country and are a great way to meet people with similar interests and get all dressed up in one go, extra 2020 good karma points for supporting local charity work too!

Go see theLondon Fireworks

Getting tickets for the fireworks is an event in itself so you can guarantee anyone who is there is pumped for New Years Eve! Being out in the cold for hours, you will quickly make friends with your fireworks neighbours and it’s a great way to meet someone special (and what a romantic way to see in 2020 – actual fireworks!)

Go to a Boat Party

They have popped up all over the country and you pay for a ticket that usually includes a sit down meal, drinks and entertainment. Because it’s all pre booked and ‘once you’re on you’re on’ you are with one group of people and will quickly get to know everyone on board, it’s a great way to meet someone special and you don’t have to worry about losing them in the crowd before the clock strikes 12!

Join a dating site

A bit of a different one but I actually know a few people whose first date was on New Years Eve, joining a free dating site like welovedates.com is a great way to meet someone in your area who is serious about finding someone special in 202. Plus imagine telling everyone you met the love of your life on a New Years Eve date!

Go to Disneyland

Honestly Disneyland on New Years Eve is the dream and would be the most amazing way to meet someone new, see some insane fireworks and well it’s Disney what more is there to say (plus I know a ton of people who met at Disney, it’s clearly a great singles hangout!)

Go see a show

Another different one but I went to a New Years Eve play and orchestra show one year and it was so lovely, everyone was really friendly and chatty especially in the bar areas and it was such a fun way to meet new people and experience something new, it was one of my favourite New Years Eve’s and a really good way to meet someone new!

Go to a singles event

There are specific singles new years eve parties all over the UK this year and as they are geared towards single people they are the perfect way to meet someone new, I think it’s a great idea as the focus isn’t just on meeting someone it’s on celebrating the new year so the atmosphere is much more relaxed then at a normal singles event.

Jump on a plane

If you have time the off of work (and some spare £!) then travelling abroad for New Years is such a fun way to experience the night, you will meet people with a similar mindset and  passion for travel  and people you would never usually meet at home and have some amazing stories to tell when you get home, I think we all know someone who met a partner whilst travelling!

Go Ice Skating

Yes you read that right, ice skating for new years! Skylight London have brought back their new years eve event which includes a DJ’s,  Champagne and Ice Skating with screens all across the London rooftop to watch the fireworks. I think it would be such a unique way to meet someone especially as Ice Skating involves (if you are anything like me) a lot of falling and laughing so you are guaranteed to make friends (and hopefully find someone special to help you have your magical Dancing on Ice moment!)

I hope you enjoyed these 10 different and fun ways to meet someone on new years eve, it’s such a fun night and there are so many amazing things you can do on the night now (when I was younger it was a night in your usual local club but with a hefty ticket price!) and I really hope you spend New Years Eve with someone or meeting someone special!

Let me know your New Years Eve plans this year, I am having a family night this year and I can’t wait!
