Another day, another mascara review! Today’s review is of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara which is a new addition to the Lash Sensational range. Now I reviewed the original mascara last year (you can read that HERE) and along with most of the blogging world I was blown away by it. This version is enriched with essential oils and has a different wand to the original, the wand reminds me of the butterfly shaped mascara wands from L’oreal, and like those the idea is that you use the fattest part to brush through the lashes before going in with the thinner part to define them. Now I will say this, in theory this mascara sounded amazing and so I did have some high expectations, which sadly were not met. For me the problem lies in the formula, it’s just too wet for my lashes! I found that this caused them to clump together giving them quite a thin and sparse finish- not what I was going for! I found that because of this I just couldn’t make the product work for me, it’s a shame as I liked the brush, I found it really added length to my lashes but sadly the formula made it impossible to get volume or the ‘layers of lashes’ promised. I did noticed the ‘lash line fill’ which I really liked but sadly the wetness of the product also causes some smudging on the waterline and beneath the lower lashes. I have quite heavy lashes and I think the oils weighed them down and made them droop as they day went on. All in all I can’t say this is a mascara I would repurchase or recommend, if you have thicker eyelashes or oily lids I think you might find the product doesn’t work for you, that being said I will give it a 2 week ‘dry out’ test and see if the product fairs better after that and I will keep you posted! For now though, I will be sticking to the original!
The Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara costs £7.99 (currently £5.99) and is available HERE.
