I spotted these in my local Boots and just had to add them to my ever growing collection of balm sticks! Seriously it seems like every brand has there own version of the Clinique Chubby Sticks now and these are some of the best yet! The L’oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss’ have the colour payoff of a lipstick with the shine (and in some cases glitter particles!) of a gloss. I chose three of them as they was a 3 for 2 offer on in Boots (I believe this is still going on!)
The shades I chose were:
Die For Guava: a bright clean pink (glossy with no glitter particles)
Sin For Peach: A dirty peachy pink (glossy with tiny glitter particles)
Dare The Dragon Fruit: A red toned purple/pink (large glitter particles)
All three have excellent colour payoff and are pretty unique shades which is refreshing. Die For Guava is a beautiful clean pink which works especially well with a smoky eye- it has a really nice babydoll feel to it without being to much of a pastel shade. I don’t usually go for pinks but because this is cool toned it works well with my pinky undertones and looks really nice paired with the soft pink cream blush from L’oreal too!
Sin for peach is more of a dirty peachy pink, it is quite similar to my beloved Topshop lipstick ‘Beatnik’ and is an almost perfect match to my natural lip colour. I actually love layering this over the top for a glossy look and because they are silky and not sticky it gives the effect of a gloss without getting my hair stuck in it!
Lastly Dare The Dragon Fruit. I wish the pictures did this one justice because it is so so beautiful! It has multi coloured glitter running through it which I would normally avoid like the plague but somehow it makes this the standout shade for me. On my lips this came out a more red/plum shade but I think on darker skin tones this would be more of a deep plum. I think it is one of those shades that will look different in each person and it took a LOT of photographing to get an accurate picture of it on me! If you only pick one up for A/W make it this one (unless you hate glitter as this does leave behind some glittery particles on the lips!)
Wear time on all three was around 1/2 hours- not great but expected for a gloss and they feel so moisturising that I didn’t mind re-applying! What do you think of these balmy gloss sticks?
The L’oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss Sticks cost £6.99 each and are available here.
